During the 57th anniversary celebration of Taipei Medical University, General Manager Yu-Pei Wang received the award of outstanding alumnus and humbly expressed her sincere gratitude to her alma mater for the recognition and instruction she has received. 50 years ago, she came to Taipei Medical University when she was a naïve and self-effacing girl. Without the background of overseas study and field experiences in the industry, she shouldered the business responsibility of Nangkuang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. after graduation. At that time, Nangkuang was a small company with 20 employees and monthly revenue of 2 million NTD. With her leadership, Nangkuang has expanded to 570 employees with monthly revenue of 150 million NTD now. She grew and thrived with Nangkuang and dedicated all her efforts to the business operation and family in the past 50 years. Fortunately, Chairman Chen always provided his support and understanding to her all along. With the succession planning, their 5 brilliant children already got on the track of business operation. To put her concept into practice, she expressed her talents and devoted selflessly her personal experiences and business connections to the pharmaceutical industry, and resolutely took the position of chairwoman of Chinese Pharmaceutical Manufacture and Development Association. Three years has passed in the blink of an eye. During this period, she broke through the traditional thinking and frames, and led delegations to promote the business connections to China and Korea. This year, to respond to the New Southern Policy of the new government, she held the first business visit to Malaysia and proposed the forward-looking concept of Taiwan Biotech City. The strategy of integrating medical care, education, and economic development has gained highly recognition and support of competent authorities of Malaysia and Taiwan Industry. However, due to the reality of cross-strait politics, ruthless suppression was encounter during the process. Feeling the isolation and helplessness of Taiwan’s international status, as the chairwoman, she believes that the Industry should be more united in the future, and more importantly, have a sense of crisis. Madam Wang is incumbent to bear the responsibility of inheritance and being the pioneer of the industry. She also hopes all alumni of Taipei Medical University can support each others in the harsh circumstances and work together for Taiwan’s future.

Nangkuang has successfully transformed from a traditional pharmaceutical company to the leader of Taiwan’s parenteral product industry, and developed its biopharmaceutical brand which emphasizes easiness, safety, and environmental protection. Nangkuang expected itself to shine brightly in the global market of acute and critical care products in the future. Facing the challenges of internationalization of biopharmaceutical industry and innovation of biotechnology, General Manager Wang also hopes to contribute her efforts to open up international markets and establish international deployment solution for Taiwan’s pharmaceutical industry.
